2011 NFL Draft Profile: Mark Ingram

Alfie's Player Ranking 39 out of 100
Projected Round: 1-2

Today continues my countdown to the Top 100 draftable players of the 2011 NFL Draft. We move on to my 39th ranked player, Alabama running back Mark Ingram.

Height: 5-10

Weight: 215lbs.

PROS: Good bulk and frame for an NFL running back. Doesn’t fumble often and is a good enough athlete to break runs to the outside. Amazing balance as a runner, many compare him to former Dallas Cowboy Emmitt Smith. Powerful and breaks tackles, nearly half of his yardage came after contact. Can be a threat out of the backfield catching the football. Patient runner who lets his blocks setup, but also has the ability to be an effective cut-back runner. Knows how to find the endzone.

CONS: His atleticism and top end speed are good enough, but not elite. Not really considered the "homerun" threat running back, but consistently gets yardage. Not very good in pass protection, will need to work heavily on picking up blitzers for the NFL level. Significant production drop off from his 2009 Heisman season, gaining nearly half as much yardage. There is a strong feeling he wasn’t even the best back on his team at Alabama.
