2011 NFL Draft Profile: Marvin Austin

Alfie's Player Ranking 30 out of 100
Projected Round: 1-2

Today continues my countdown to the Top 100 draftable players of the 2011 NFL Draft. We move on to my 32nd ranked player, North Carolina defensive tackle Marvin Austin.

Height: 6-1

Weight: 309lbs

PROS: Disruptive and very athletic defensive lineman. Gets off the ball fast and has an explosive first step. Powerful and uses his hands to break off blocks and get into the backfield. Can collapse the pocket and shows an array of bull rush and spin moves to get into the backfield. Good against the run and fits as a 4-3 defensive tackle or a 3-4 defensive end.

CONS: Was suspended the entire 2010 season due to dealing with an agent. Some question his total commitment to football, but did show up to the East West Shrine game in excellent shape and impressed during the week. Known to be inconsistent and just go through the motions for extended periods of time. Considered a big boom or bust type of prospect. Could fall anywhere in the first round.
