2011 NFL Mock Draft: BCC Writer Mock Draft

Shane, CaliforniaJag (Brad), and Brian all got together last night and decided to collaborate on a Two Round Mock Draft. Why would we want to do such an exercise? We all like to talk and wanted to waste a lot of time.

Hit the jump to see how it went.

Carolina Panthers - Marcell Dareus, DT, Alabama - While many think the Panthers will go with Cam Newton number one overall, they simply cannot afford to. The Panthers will look for the safe pick on the defensive line, since they're out a second round pick. Missing on Newton would have catastrophic consequences. (Brad disagrees with this pick).

Denver Broncos - Patrick Peterson, CB, LSU - With Dareus off the board, the Broncos look for an immediate starter at cornerback or the safety position with Patrick Peterson.

Buffalo Bills - Von Miller, OLB, Texas A&M - the Bills need a pass rushing threat in their 3-4 defense and Von Miller is the perfect fit.

Cincinnati Bengals - A.J. Green, WR, Georgia - While a QB here would work out well for the Bengals, we find it hard to believe they'll pass on Green here.

Arizona Cardinals - Robert Quinn, OLB, UNC -Again while one of the QB's is a possibility, the Cardinals really like John Skelton and the general feeling is they'll target a veteran QB. Robert Quinn can add a rush to the outside.

Cleveland Browns - Nick Fairley, DT, Auburn -  This could be a spot for the Browns to maximize their value and trade down. We're not doing trades however, so they'll pick up a building block for their new 4-3 defense.

San Francisco 49ers - Blaine Gabbert, QB, Missouri -It's just too difficult for us to see Harbaugh passing on Blaine Gabbert here. He can still try to work with Alex Smith, but Gabbert offers the future.

Tennessee Titans - Corey Liuget, DT, Illinois -While this seems high for Liuget, we can't see the Titans taking Cam Newton here after dealing with Vince Young. This is also a spot where the Titans could possibly trade down and get some more picks. Liuget however, fills a hole on the Titans defensive line.

Dallas Cowboys - J.J. Watt, DE, Wisconsin - While Tyron Smithis the token Cowboys pick, three of us immediately threw out J.J. Watt's name to bolster the Cowboys defensive line. Note, Brian hates this pick.

Washington Redskins- Cam Newton, QB, Auburn -To everyone this was an easy pick. Everyone but Alfie, he says Jake Locker all the way.

Houston Texans - Prince Amukamara, CB, Nebraska - Even though the Texans spent a first round pick on Kareem Jackson, their secondary is still the worst in the NFL. Amukamara can come in right away and start opposite Jackson.

Minnesota Vikings - Jake Locker, QB, Washington - Again to everyone this was an easy pick to make. The Vikings are in need of the QB of their future. Alfie says DE is probably the pick here, even with Locker on the board.

Detroit Lions- Tyron Smith, OT, USC - We all agreed that it's in the Lions best interest to protect Matt Stafford. Smith can start on the right side until he's ready to move over. Brad thinks they will go defensive end, however.

St. Louis Rams - Julio Jones, WR, Alabama - I don't feel the need to really explain this one.

Miami Dolphins - Mike Pouncey, OG, Florida -This is also a possible trade down scenario. Pouncey is a safe pick for Sparano and crew, but also fills a need on the Dolphins interior line. Brad says Christian Ponder here, Alfie kind of agrees but voted Pouncey to break the tie.

Jacksonville Jaguars - Cameron Jordan, DE, California - We knew this pick was going to be a stalemate going in, but we moved on with Jordan as a pick on the defensive line. Alfie and Brad both have a feeling it's Kaepernick.

New England Patriots - Akeem Ayers, LB, UCLA - While this will be an eyebrow raiser for some, to us it was a perfect Patriots pick. Ayers can start right away on the outside on a defense where the Patriots are trying to infuse youth.

San Diego Chargers - Adrian Clayborn, DE, Iowa - The Chargers are looking for someone to replace Jacques Cesaire on the defensive line. Clayborn is a strong side end we feel can play end in the 3-4 scheme.

New York Giants - Anthony Castonzo, OT, Boston College -The Giants are getting long in the tooth at the offensive line. While many feel Pouncey will be the pick if he falls (he didn't), Castonzo offers versatility at either tackle spot.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Da'Quan Bowers, DE, Clemson - This is where the plummet for Bowers ends. The Bucs have a dire need for a young defensive end and would be giddy with Bowers at this spot.

Kansas City Chiefs - Aldon Smith, OLB, Missouri - The Chiefs need a pass rusher opposite Tamba Hali and should know Smith well, given he played up the road at Mizzou. Alfie says Phil Taylor here, as the Chiefs need a nose tackle.

Indianapolis Colts - Ryan Kerrigan, DE, Purdue - This is a bit of an eyebrow raiser pick, but the Colts are not happy with Jerry Hughes and will need to start looking for replacements for Dwight Freeney and Robert Mathis. Kerrigan offers a lot of value at this spot. Brad says Derek Sherrod would be the pick here.

Philadelphia Eagles - Jimmy Smith, CB, Colorado -This was another easy pick for us. Smith plays the corner position the way the Eagles like and have the locker room to deal with prima-donna attitudes.

New Orleans Saints - Justin Houston, DE, Georgia - The Saints are looking for a pass rusher to place opposite Will Smith, and Houston also offers the versatility to blitz standing up in Gregg Williams defense.

Seattle Seahawks - Colin Kaepernick, QB, Nevada - There are mulitple reports that Kaepernick is the top quarterback on Seattle's board and this will be the only spot they'll likely get them.

Baltimore Ravens - Gabe Carimi, OT, Wisconsin -The Ravens have a lot of needs to be an elite team, but Carimi fits value and need here. He can challenge right away to play the right tackle position.

Atlanta Falcons - Kyle Rudolph, TE, Notre Dame -We're ready for the assault from Falcons fans who will hate this pick, but we think it makes sense. The Falcons could use another receiver threat and this is likely Tony Gonzolez's last season in the NFL.

New England Patriots - Derek Sherrod, OT, Mississippi State - The Patriots will look to start addressing their offensive line and Sherrod offers great value. This is also a possible trade down scenario for teams looking to get a QB.

Chicago Bears- Muhammed Wilkerson, DT, Temple - We all agreed the Bears will look for a defensive tackle with this pick, as they released Tommie Harris and have a hole there. Alfie however contends it will be Marvin Austin.

New York Jets- Phil Taylor, DT, Baylor - The Jets will need to inject some youth in their defensive line and Phil Taylor can be their nose tackle going forward.

Pittsburgh Steelers - Aaron Williams, CB/S, Texas - The Steelers supposedly love Aaron Williams because of his versatillity and they are in need of some youth int he secondary.

Green Bay Packers - Brooks Reed, OLB, Arizona - Two long haired try-hard white guys rushing off the edge. Scary, right? We felt this was a good spot for Reed to end up. Alfie's vote was for Rodney Hudson here.
