BCC Community Mock Draft: Broncos Select - DT Marcell Dareus

With the 2nd overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, the Denver Broncos select: Defensive tackle Marcell Dareus, University of Alabama.

Dareus is big, strong, and fast at the defensive tackle position as this is what the Broncos need as the transition back to the 4-3. He was very impressive at the combine, weighing in at a very solid 317 pounds and running a 4.93 40 which is very well for a player his size. If you look back when new GM Brian Xanders was the GM in Atlanta 6/10 of his 1st round draft picks were defensive players so that shows he is very comfortable with drafting defense first. Going back to Dareus he is a very hard worker, no character problems which are all things that make him a better selection than high risk Nick Fairley. He even scored a very high mark on his Wonderlic which makes him an even better option. Marcel is a kid who is a low risk high reward and will make that Broncos defensive line very tough with Elvis Dumervil next to him.
