Friday Thought Drop

I did this last week, and I liked the way it turned out. So, here's another smorgasbord of my thoughts that weren't elaborate enough to result in a full article.

About two years ago, we knew that there might be a lockout in 2011. Is there anyone else who thinks that is insanity? They've had two years to work this thing out, and they haven't been able to get it done.

Wayne Weaver said last night that the Jaguars were about 12,000 tickets short of their season ticket goal in the conference call broadcast on Jaguars.com. That seems like a huge number considering the lockout and the ticket selling difficulties it brings.

Yesterday, I ranked NFL positions based on importance. As I look over the list, the Jaguars have serious needs in most of the top positions I listed. That has to be addressed soon.

Mike Pouncey said that he expects the Cowboys to draft him. Really? I know he's good, but does anyone really believe he's that good?

Minnesota has a proposition that would raise about 300 million dollars for a new stadium according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. Personally, I don't think that's enough to keep them in Minnesota. A warm weather, fully financed, huge market stadium just sounds better from a business perspective.

Going back to ticket sales, why wouldn't you want to buy season tickets? I've watched games at the old RCA Dome in Indy as well as Lucas Oil Stadium. Those experiences are nothing compared to the outdoor experience I had on a Monday night in 2007 at Everbank Field. There's something great about that stadium when it's rocking.

I read today that one writer thinks Jake Locker will be a third round pick. I laughed to myself while thinking; if he makes it out of the first round I'd be surprised.

There's been a lot of talk about Da'Quan Bowers falling to Jacksonville. I don't think I'd want him in Jacksonville. I'm not advocating drafting scared, but I'm a fan of drafting smart. It just seems to me like he's a bang or bust type of player.

That's all I have for you. Have a great weekend everyone!
