Friday Thought Drop

Call me ambitious, but this is the earliest I will have ever written an article, for anything. The time is currently 4:48 am. So, don't complain about not having anything to read as you head off to work. One thing I've noticed is that Marcedes Lewis has been popping up all over the web and NFL Network. The guy may be the greatest marketing machine for the Jaguars since Tony Boselli. That aside, it's been a fun week. I've been enjoying the creative ways NFL bloggers are getting by. For example, Paul Kuharsky of ESPN has created the "NFL Twindex." Basically, it's a subjective ranking of the best NFL tweeters. Is it particularly useful? Not really, but it provides some great laughs through a period of incredible boredom.

I know that there is an apparent conflict between the Jaguars and the Sharks, but the Sharks have the best record in the AFL right now at 9-1. Is it too early to be thinking about the Arena Bowl?

While I'm not a huge basketball fan, it has become impossible for me to ignore the possibility that the Miami Heat could be the NBA champions. You know what? I think I should take MY talents to South Beach.

For anyone who claims to be a race fan, you should be aware that this is the biggest racing weekend of the year. On Sunday, Indiana will celebrate its day in the sports lime light as it hosts the Indianapolis 500. The Coca-Cola 600 is also on Sunday.

There are very few things in this world that I love more than sports, and especially football, but the United States of America is one of those things. This weekend is Memorial Day weekend. I'd like to encourage everyone to thank a serviceman or servicewoman today as well as any veterans you may know. I'd just like to say that it really is great to live in a country where a labor dispute concerning a sports league is one of my biggest concerns. From me to anyone who is or has served in the armed forces, thank you very much for everything that you have done/are doing for our nation. We truly appreciate it.

There's really not much else to say about the week in regards to football. Here's some must watch sports for the weekend:

Tampa Bay Lightning vs. Boston Bruins - Fri., 8:00 PM EST - Versus - Game 7

Jacksonville Sharks at Arizona Rattlers - Sat., 9:00 PM EST - NiftyTV

Indianapolis 500 - Sun., 12:00 PM EST - ABC

Coca-Cola 600 - Sun., 6:00 PM EST - Fox

That's all I've got. Have a great, safe extended weekend. We'll see you back here next week.
