Garrard Welcomes the Challenge From Rookie Gabbert

As I noted earlier, a group of 28 Jacksonville Jaguars players held a player-run workout yesterday and one of the attendees was first round pick Blaine Gabbert. According to Vito Stellino of the Florida Times-Union, there wasn't any noticeable awkwardness between any of the quarterbacks in attendance.

"Everything I've heard about David and Luke is that they're first class [guys] and my opinion on that hasn't changed,'' Gabbert told Stellino. "They've been extremely welcoming. It is a great situation to be in.''

As expected, current starting quarterback David Garrard is saying all the right things in regards to the young gun who will be vying for his job. "He's a good looking kid. He's got a good arm and he's a very smart kid who is going to have a bright future in Jacksonville,'' Garrard told Stellino. "If I was shunning the rookie and not wanting to help him, to me I would feel I'm a hypocrite because I am a team player. I said it before, if he's better than me, he should play. The team should have the best guys out there on the field,' Garrard told Stellino on welcoming Gabbert. "I am going to make it extremely hard for that to happen,'' Garrard added.
