Well, you know how you always give those "first guys there, last guys out" players props? Apparently, the Jacksonville Jaguars first round pick beat most of his teammates and reporters to EverBank field today. NFL facilities are supposed to open at 10:00 AM today across the league, but Blaine Gabbert was there at about 7:45 AM.
According to Tania Ganguli, because today's events are voluntary, Gabbert can be there despite not being under contract.
Today's activities are voluntary so Gabbert, who moved to Jacksonville earlier this month, can be there without a contract signed.
That could be part of the reason he's at the facility as well, teams can begin negotiating today with their draft picks. I'd expect Gabbert to be signed and in camp as early as possible, given the dip in rookie contracts and the fixed amount of years. First round picks will now sign 4-year deals with a team option for a 5th year.
