The Jacksonville Jaguars have been reportedly in pursuit of Baltimore Ravens free agent safety Dawan Landry for days. According to Jason LaCanfora of the NFL Network, a deal is expected to be officially wrapped up this morning.

Jaguars very close to cementing deal with S Dawan Landry, another deal we chronicled weeks ago before free agency. Should be done this AM

Landry is the "other safety" for the Ravens, but represents a significant upgrade the the Jaguars safety group. He's more in the mold of a strong safety, but he has coverage ability, as the Ravens often rotate their safeties around with interchanging responsibilities. With Landry seemingly all but wrapped up, the Jaguars have would have added three significant players to their back seven on defense, all at the very least very solid football players. I don't think this will be the last safety the Jaguars sign either. I could see them looking for another safety to compete for a starting role.

Per the new CBA rules, Landry cannot sign his expect contract until 4:01PM today and cannot practice on the field with the Jaguars until August 4th.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the deal is reportedly a 5-year deal.
