Jaguars WR Kevin Elliott to get more play time

With the injury to wide receiver Laurent Robinson, undrafted rookie Kevin Elliott will get more reps at the "X" receiver position.

The Jacksonville Jaguars placed wide receiver Laurent Robinson on injured reserve on Wednesday, after he suffered his fourth concussion of the season late in the game against the Houston Texans. With Robinson being out, that means a big opportunity for undrafted rookie free agent wide receiver Kevin Elliott, who was a fan favorite during training camp because of some of the big plays down the field he made.

"He plays X. He’ll have to step up," Jaguars head coach Mike Mularkey told reporters on Wednesday. "We brought in Jordan Shipley as well so we’re going to give a couple of guys opportunities to line up out there and take advantage of it."

Elliott has played in spots so far in the season due to injuries at the position, but hasn't really made a big impact yet. He's a big receiver with the ability to get down the field and looks like a stud special teams player, but he's going to get a chance to make plays as a receiver. Earlier in the season he had some issues catching the football, but it's possible that was just rookie nerves after being thrust into the lineup.
