After taking a 7-3 lead in the first quarter, the Jaguars and Titans played a scoreless second quarter until the final seconds before the half. With 11 seconds remaining, Rob Bironas made up for a miss earlier in the quarter and hit a 40-yard field goal to cut the Jaguars lead to 7-6 at halftime.
The story of the first half for the Jaguars was undoubtedly the defense, as it held the Titans to just six points, three of which came on a field goal following a three-and-out.
Offensively, the Jaguars received solid play from Chad Henne in the first half, who bounced back from an early interception to finish the half 10-of-14 with 136 yards passing. Jake Locker finished 8-of-16 with 101 yards passing.
Both Rashad Jennings and Chris Johnson finished the first half with an identical 26 yards rushing on nine attempts, although Jennings scored the sole touchdown of the game in the first quarter.
