Just before the Jaguars' final game of the 2011 season, Jaguars kicker Josh Scobee said he would be surprised if he wasn't with the Jaguars for the 2012 season. I will be too. Started talking about this a little bit yesterday on Twitter and thought I'd blog a more thorough discussion of Scobee's situation.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell named Jaguars owner Shad Khan to the NFL's investment committee, a committee for which former Jaguars owner Wayne Weaver was the chairman. Jets owner Woody Johnson is now chairman of the investment committee.
Were he different, Rashean Mathis might handle this situation differently. Were he not a professional athlete, and if he didn’t possess the attributes that allow an athlete to perform at the highest level, the Jaguars veteran cornerback said there’s a good chance he wouldn’t be doing what he is doing.
The Jacksonville Jaguars have a chance to do something that they have rarely done in their existence this April and trade back out of the top 10 picks and pick up some extra selections later in the NFL Draft. Jaguars general manager is always searching for the best value he can get in the draft, and I think this year the Jaguars can afford to move out of the top 10 and still be able to select one of the prospects that they are targeting.
