Scratch another receiver off the list of potential Jaguars free agent signings as Jay Glazer of Fox Sports is reporting that
the Saints and Marques Colston have agreed to a five year deal.
Scoopage: Take 1 name off the list of free agents set to hit the market today. Saints have just agreed to new 5 yr deal w WR Marques Colston
— Jay Glazer (@JayGlazer) March 13, 2012
Colston, 28, has over 6,000 yards receiving and 48 touchdowns since being drafted in the seventh round by the New Orleans Saints in 2006. A history of knee injuries and a broken collarbone slowed Colston in recent years and only allowed him to start in seven games in 2011, although he was active for 14.
The deal all but assures that Saints wide receiver Robert Meachem will reach the open market. Meachem as well as Vincent Jackson, Josh Morgan, Reggie Wayne and Brandon Lloyd now lead the field at the receiving position among unrestricted free agents.
