The Jacksonville Jaguars have franchised kicker Josh Scobee according to a report by Tania Ganguli of the Florida Times-Union. This isn't much of a surprise and was expected.
The #Jaguars have franchised kicker @JoshScobee10. He is locked in for at least one more year.

There was some belief the Jaguars could come to a deal with Scobee today and then use their franchise tag on defensive end Jeremy Mincey, but as it stands the two sides were not very close to terms on a new long term contract. The tag is projected to pay Scobee, a kick, around $2.9 million for the 2012 season if he plays under the franchise tag. According to Ganguli, Scobee has no intention of signing the franchise tag.
I would expect however for the two sides to reach a long term deal before the franchise tag deadline on July 15. With the tag being placed on Scobee, it looks like defensive end Jeremy Mincey is destined for the open market.
