The Jacksonville Jaguars officially announced the re-signing of veteran cornerback Rashean Mathis to a one-year deal worth up to $5 million. Details of Mathis' deal have now emerged, thanks to Tania Ganguli of the Florida Times-Union. As expected, the deal is full of playing time incentives.

The original deal of $5 million sounded just fine to me, but now that the details have emerged it's even better. Ganguli notes that the total contract is sustainable for Mathis is he is on the field and starts as much as he has in the past, which he should if he's healthy. The biggest question will be when Mathis will be ready to play coming off the ACL he tore in the middle of the season in 2011.
