Mike Mularkey Remembers Junior Seau As An 'Unbelievable Person'

Earlier in the week former NFL great Junior Seau died from a self inflicted gunshot wound to the chest. According to police, Seau did not leave a note or give reason to why he did what he did, but the news hit close to home for a lot of current and former NFL players. One former NFL player who it hit home for was Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Mike Mularkey, who played against Junior Seau when he was a tight end for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

"That does make you think," Jaguars coach Mike Mularkey told Tania Ganguli of the Florida Times-Union. "Especially former players that have had concussions, you definitely have to think about it. Watching these other guys that were in an era when you played, and what's taking place in their life. Definitely."

Mularkey played in the NFL for nine seasons and told Ganguli that he was diagnosed with a couple of concussions during his playing career, but Mularkey played in an era where not much was known about brain injuries.

"I had a chance to be at the Pro Bowl with him a couple of times we coached the Pro Bowl," Mularkey told Ganguli. "You talk about just an unbelievable football player and person and somebody that would light your life up. It's just tragic."
