The Jacksonville Jaguars placed their franchise tag on kicker Josh Scobee, preventing him from becoming an unrestricted free agent. Like most players, Scobee wasn't too pleased with the tender and has chosen not to sign it. The two sides are in the process of negotiating a long term contract, but according to Scobee's agent Ken Harris, not much progress has been made.

"On both sides of this equation there are really good people. There are good people on the Jags side. There are good people on Josh's side," Harris told Tania Ganguli of the Florida Times-Union. "I have to give Josh a ton of credit. He had me convey invitations to them on three different occasions to sit down, for he and I and their top brass to sit down together and talk, and that hasn't come to pass."

"I'm confident that will happen in time," general manager Gene Smith said during the Draft. "We want Josh Scobee here."

In a side note, Josh Scobee is trying to qualify for the U.S. Open today at Timuquana Country Club. He just narrowly missed making the cut last year.
