Jaguars, Scobee reach ideal compromise |

What the Jaguars, Josh Scobee and his agent did Monday is a perfect example of why the NFL has deadlines: it pushes parties to get together and negotiate.

In this case, the team and one of the league's top three placekickers came to an agreement on a four-year, $13.8 million contract. That falls right in line with what Scobee deserved for the production that his consistency and booming leg delivered in recent years.

Scobee excited and relieved |

Josh Scobee never lost faith. Not entirely.

Not that it wasn't frustrating, and the process was indeed difficult, but Scobee said he had hope throughout the offseason he eventually would do what he did Monday afternoon when he signed a long-term contract extension to remain the Jaguars' kicker.
