After the first round, I think it's clear that I have the better thrower between myself and Jon. While Zach Miller provides a multi-purpose threat and is almost certainly going to be a better defender than Blaine Gabbert, the better arm is clearly Gabbert.
With that, I intend to build a strong passing offense around him. An offense based around receivers that are able to run crisp routes and get open rather than receivers that are able to fight through contact.
So with my second pick I'm going to choose to select wide receiver Laurent Robinson.
I imagine there are going to be several wide receivers taken between Jon and I when it's finalized and 14 players are off the board. So until the two players slated to start for the Jaguars in 2012 are gone, it would feel like a reach for me to select any receiver other than Robinson or Justin Blackmon.
Between the two, Robinson is the much more refined route-runner at this point in his career and can be the "do everything" receiver for my team. He provides a solid target at 6-2, 205 and provides a potential deep threat that I know my quarterback will be able to deliver to.
Blackmon provides a tough receiver that might be able to break a tackle or two in the NFL, but what good does that do in flag football? None. Robinson is the better receiver of the two when it comes to flags.
A former basketball player and track athlete, I trust that Robinson has the athleticism necessary to play some defensive back as well. But my primary focus is finding the athletes necessary to beat any defense that Jon can put together and pairing Robinson with Gabbert is a good place to start.
