The Jacksonville Jaguars are at a seemed standstill with first-round pick wide receiver Justin Blackmon, as the two sides still cannot come to terms on a contract. Blackmon is now going on Day 7 of not being in training camp and is in danger of not getting into camp in time to be available for the Jaguars first preseason game against the New York Giants on August 10.
"Not very close," ESPN's Adam Schefter said on SportsCenter. "They haven't made a lot of progress. They're not close to a deal."
The hang up in the deal seems to come from the language as the Jaguars are trying to protect themselves and break up the bonus money year-by-year in case Blackmon runs foul with the law again. Of course, Blackmon's agent is trying to fight against this and get the best deal for his client, as he should.
It's interesting to note however, Blackmon's agent is also Prince Amukamara's agent, and he was the last rookie to sign in 2011.
