With the Jacksonville Jaguars already having Eugene Monroe and Will Rackley down with injuries on the offensive line, the defense began taking it's hits as defensive end Austen Lane went down with a foot injury and then linebacker Daryl Smith left the field with a groin.
During drills Smith went off to the side and left the field, riding out of practice at the end on the same cart as Austen Lane. The severity of the injury for Smith is not known, but he's a player the Jaguars cannot afford to lose on the defensive side of the football. Smith has been a cornerstone of the Jaguars defense since his rookie season.
Smith is entering the final year of his contract as well, so it's important for him to stay on the field and earn a new pay day, but the Jaguars obviously know what he can bring to the table.
