Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Matt Veldman underwent an MRI on his knee Friday evening after injuring it Thursday night against the Baltimore Ravens. Veldman is headed to injured reserve after the MRI revealed the need for surgery on his MCL.

Veldman had been turning some heads in practice and making a couple of plays in games, but will now miss the 2012 NFL season on injured reserve.

Jaguars head coach Mike Mularkey told reporters after practice the team will be looking for a tight end to sign due to the injuries to Veldman and Zach Miller. The team does not plan to play Marcedes Lewis very much in the preseason finale and the only other tight ends on the roster are Colin Cloherty and Zach Potter.

Miller, who was injured just three plays after coming back from an injury is expected to miss "at least a couple weeks," with his most recent injury.
