The Jacksonville Jaguars will be taking on the New York Giants on Friday evening to open up the 2012 NFL preseason and will have a couple of shakeups in their depth chart. As mentioned before, Cecil Shorts III will get the start at the "Z" position at wide receiver, but on the defensive line C.J. Mosley will get the start at defensive tackle over Terrance Knighton.
While it's a bit of an eyebrow raise, it shouldn't be much of a shocker that the team is taking it slow with Knighton in the preseason. Mosley has earned some chances to start however, as he's had an outstanding training camp thus far, looking quick and powerful in team drills. Knighton is in the best shape, weight wise, in his career as a Jaguar but he may not be in total "football" shape as of yet. It shouldn't be seen as anything disappointing or a reason to be down on Knighton, who's getting back into the swing of things.
I would still expect Knighton to be the opening day starter against the Minnesota Vikings however, with Mosley getting plenty of snaps in the defensive line rotation.
