The Jacksonville Jaguars have announced that they plan to honor 2012 Summer Olympic gold medalist Sanya Richards-Ross at halftime on Sunday against the Houston Texans. Richards-Ross won two gold medals at the 2012 Olympics in the 400-meter dash and the 4x400-meter relay.
"I'm looking forward to finally coming to my new home in Jacksonville," Richards-Ross said in a statement released by the team. "The way Aaron and I have been embraced by the Jaguars organization and the community is unlike anything we have ever seen. I can't wait to thank all the fans for their amazing support during my journey in London. Sunday will be my first Jaguars game but not my last."
Richards-Ross is the wife of Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Aaron Ross, who was signed during the 2012 free agency period. Part of the reason Ross chose to sign with the Jaguars is the fact that head coach Mike Mularkey and general manager Gene Smith agreed to let Ross skip a few days of training camp to watch his wife compete at the 2012 Summer Games in London.
