Texans Vs. Jaguars: Jacksonville Underdogs At Home

Presswire

The Jacksonville Jaguars are 0-1 on the season after a 26-23 overtime loss to the Minnesota Vikings. The team now heads back home to EverBank Field for an AFC South matchup against the Houston Texans as eight point underdogs. The Texans are a team that many feel will walk away with the AFC South title and be a potential Super Bowl team, so it's not a big surprise this early in the season for the Texans to be at least a touchdown favorite.

The Jaguars were swept by the Texans in the season series in 2011, but both games were rather close with the Jaguars struggling mightily on offense. One of those games also saw the Texans starting Matt Leinart before moving on to T.J. Yates midway through the game.

The Jaguars are 9-11 all time against the Texans.

Here is what OddsShark had to say about the game:

OddsShark Staff - The Houston Texans will look to take an early stranglehold on the AFC South Sunday on the road against the Jacksonville Jaguars at Everbank Field. And they have been a solid bet in this favorite role lately, going 10-3 ATS in the past 13 games. With Houston winning last Sunday and Jacksonville, Indianapolis and Tennessee all losing, the AFC South favorites have the early lead and may not look back with a road win this week. Houston is a big 8-point road favorite at $SPORTSBOOK-LINK$, but the total might be the best bet - the OVER is 16-3 in the past 19 Houston September road games. These two teams have split their last 10 games 5-5, but Houston is 6-3 ATS in their last nine meetings and 3-0 SU in their last three.

I'm not so sure the Jaguars will win the game, but I think if they can control the clock and run the football, they will be able to keep the score close.

Score prediction: Texans 30, Jaguars 24
