Last week, Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Mike Mularkey told the media that running back Rashad Jennings would be the starting running back against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 1 of the regular season. As it stands right now, that's still the case despite the return of Maurice Jones-Drew.
"It’s not my call," Jones-Drew said at his press conference on Sunday when he was asked if he expected to start against the Vikings. "To me, once again, Rashad Jennings has done a lot of work and he’s done a lot of great things. It’s up to Coach Mularkey and it’s on his plate."
Undoubtedly Jones-Drew wants to be the starter and the bell cow, but thankfully doesn't seem to be making a big stink about it as he acclimates himself back into the offense.
"My goal is to come in and learn the offense and do whatever I can to help the offense to help this team win," Jones-Drew said. "It’s never been a personal issue."
