Jaguars Sign Colin Cloherty, Send Brett Brackett To IR

Presswire

The Jacksonville Jaguars have announced they have signed tight end Colin Cloherty and placed tight end Brett Brackett on injured reserve. Brackett was claimed off of waivers over the weekend to take the place of Zach Miller, who was waived/injured and placed in injured reserve after going unclaimed. Brackett injured his knee on the first day of practice on Monday and is now done for the season, unless the team decides to place him on the temporary IR list (which is unlikely).

Cloherty was brought back after being release during the team's cut down to get to 53 players, which was a bit of a surprise. Cloherty had a nice game against the New Orleans Saints in the preseason and is more of a "move" tight end, like a bigger wide receiver, that can potentially create mismatches with linebackers. The Jaguars had just two healthy tight ends on the roster, so hopefully this isn't some kind of weird tight end curse...
