The Jacksonville Jaguars search for a new general manager is expected to go through the weekend with owner Shad Khan announcing the new general manager sometime next week. Tom Gamble, currently a personnel man with the San Francisco 49ers has turned down a second interview with the Jaguars in order to focus on obtaining the New York Jets general manager position, according to a report by Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Gamble was a favorite among Jaguars fans to land the general manager position and who I thought would wind up getting the position, but as it stands right now it appears the Jaguars are going to head in another direction than with Gamble.
Gamble has been linked to multiple general manager positions this offseason and is considered one of the top candidates available currently. Gamble has worked with the 49ers the past seven seasons and also had extensive time spent with the Indianapolis Colts.
