Eugene Monroe trade: Jaguars send LT to Ravens, per report

The Jaguars have traded Eugene Monroe to the Baltimore Ravens, according to a report.

Kevin Hoffman-USA TODAY Sports

The Jacksonville Jaguars have agreed in principle to send left tackle Eugene Monroe to the Baltimore Ravensaccording to a report by Adam Schefter of ESPN. The move, which is a bit of a surprise, comes after the Jaguars selected offensive lineman Luke Joeckel with the second overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft.

Monroe, who originally was a Top 10 draft pick by the Jaguars, has been the starting left tackle since his rookie season. He's been one of the better players on the Jaguars offensive line the past two seasons, but obviously was no longer in the team's plans going forward.

Monroe was in the final year of his contract and there had been some speculation the team might let him walk in free agency rather than franchise tagging him or re-signing him to a long term deal.
