Make no mistake, the Jaguars were fortunate to be on the receiving end of two botched Denver Broncos snaps that resulted in fumble recoveries for the defense. The Broncos were also fortunate too though, as they happened to be on the receiving end of great field position to begin the game after a failed fake punt by the Jaguars.
At the end of the day, the Jaguars held the Broncos to their lowest offensive output in points and total yardage, including becoming the first team to hold Peyton Manning to under 300 yards passing in 2013.
It was another reminder that the Jaguars defense really isn't as incompetent as the team's record would indicate. While the team again struggled to rush the passer, finishing with zero sacks of Manning, the inexperienced Jaguars secondary avoided allowing big play touchdowns.
Particularly successful in the secondary were the cornerbacks, as Will Blackmon, Alan Ball and Mike Harris held the dangerous Broncos receivers in check all game. Instead Manning had to rely on several passes to running back Knowshon Moreno, who finished with seven receptions and two drops.
The Jaguars will have another test of their secondary in Week 7 when the San Diego Chargers bring the third-ranked passing offense to EverBank Field.
