The Jacksonville Jaguars are one of many teams who have an analytics department now, so we'll take a look at some of the advanced metrics after games this season to see how players did. So let's take a look at Pro Football Focus and see how they graded out the players and if it meshed with what we saw on the field.
Who fared well?
Justin Blackmon: Surprise, surprise, the Jaguars wide receiver earned the team's highest grade on Sunday after accumulating 14 receptions for 190 yards against the Denver Broncos. With 163 yards per game, albeit with only two games under his belt in 2013, Blackmon leads the NFL by a healthy margin in that statistic and earned a +2.6 grade from PFF.
Mike Harris: The Jaguars managed to keep Peyton Manning in check, as the Broncos offense had its lowest offensive output of the season in Week 6. Earning the highest grade on the defense was Harris with a +1.4 showing. According to PFF, he allowed receptions all seven times he was thrown at, but never allowed more than seven yards, keeping the recipients of those passes to a 4.4 yards per catch average. Wes Welker was his biggest victim, as Harris limited the five-time Pro Bowler to 13 yards on three receptions.
Who fared poorly?
Sen'Derrick Marks: Through six games, Marks is the second-highest rated defender for the Jaguars, but Sunday was his worst performance of the season as he earned a -1.1 grade. It wasn't a particularly bad showing, as six defenders earned lesser grades, but Marks was unable to record a quarterback hit for the first time in 2013 and earned a -0.9 grade against the run to boot.
Will Rackley: PFF says the third-year guard has been the worst player on the Jaguars in 2013, but Sunday's game was his worst of the year. Although his +0.3 grade as a pass blocker certainly wasn't bad at all, he was dominated in the run game, posting a -4.9 grade as a run blocker. With Broncos defensive tackles having a field day against Rackley and the rest of the Jaguars offensive line (each of whom finished with negative run blocking grades), Maurice Jones-Drew managed 71 yards rushing on 21 carries.
