The Jacksonville Jaguars return home to face the San Diego Chargers on Sunday and they could be getting back a player on offense that's been out virtually the entire season so far. Veteran tight end Marcedes Lewis has been out with a calf injury, but the hope is that he'll be ready to play on Sunday.
Lewis returned to practice on a limited basis on Wednesday, as he's been dealing with a calf injury that has held him out for most of the season. Lewis attempted to come back a few weeks ago, but lasted just a handful of plays before his calf started bothering him again.
The trouble with calf injuries is that it's more an injury based on how comfortable the player feels rather than an actual timeline and treatment.
If the Jaguars can get Lewis back, it should provide a boon to the passing and rushing attack. With Cecil Shorts III seemingly likely he'll miss Sunday's game with an injury, adding another threat to go with Justin Blackmon could open some things up. Lewis' biggest asset however is his ability in run blocking, as he can help set the edge in the running game.
