Inside the Jaguars: Wide receivers improving
The Jaguars’ wide receivers got a touch healthier Thursday. Justin Blackmon and Cecil Shorts III, the Jaguars’ two top receivers, returned to practice on a limited basis Thursday, leaving the Jaguars in a slightly better situation at the position than they had been the day before. Each missed practice Wednesday, a day when Shorts, Blackmon and wide receivers Ace Sandersand Stephen Burton all missed practice.
Stats say Jaguars DE Andre Branch is struggling; coaches say otherwise
There are two easy ways for a defensive end to get noticed. The first is getting a sack. The second is a costly penalty. In last Sunday’s game at Denver, Andre Branch was in the spotlight for the latter. He was flagged for a costly unnecessary roughness penalty after the whistle on the Broncos’ second series when he engaged in a shoving match following Peyton Manning’s incomplete pass on 3rd-and-14 from the Denver 40.Instead of punting, the Broncos got a first down on the Jaguars 41. They scored five plays later to take a 14-0 lead.
Jaguars interested in bringing back Maurice Jones-Drew for the right price - SBNation.com
Maurice Jones-Drew has struggled in 2013 but the Jacksonville Jaguars are still willing to bring back the 28-year-old running back, provided he's not looking for big money. Jones-Drew's future was the source of a question asked by a reader in ESPN's Jaguars mailbag on Thursday. According to Michael DiRocco, a trade is unlikely, but there is a chance he could return in 2014. The team is interested in bringing Jones-Drew back as long as it's not for big money. There has been speculation that the Jaguars could trade the eight-year pro, which DiRocco doesn't think will happen due to the lack of compensation expected in a trade. He believes the most the Jaguars could get for Jones-Drew in a trade is a fourth-round pick, which is little for a starting running back.
