Tailspins for two AFC South teams have helped to put the Jaguars in position to pick first in the next NFL Draft.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are in the driver's seat for the first overall selection in the 2014 NFL Draft after Week 7 and it wasn't even due to the result of Monday Night Football. After building a huge strength of schedule early in the year, a five-game losing streak for the Houston Texans and a three-game skid for the Tennessee Titans have helped to knock the tie-breaking strength of schedule down plenty.

Even if the New York Giants hadn't earned their first victory of the season on Monday with a 23-7 win over the Minnesota Vikings, the Jaguars would have had the lowest strength of schedule of the three remaining winless teams. Instead they sit atop the order, just a hair ahead of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, although the latter has played one fewer game.

Through seven weeks with 10 remaining, here is the current order for the top 10 selections in the 2014 NFL Draft:

# Team Record Opp. Record SoS %
1 Jacksonville Jaguars 0-7 62-48 0.564
2 Tampa Bay Buccaneers 0-6 59-45 0.567
3 New York Giants 1-6 59-47 0.557
4 Minnesota Vikings 1-5 56-54 0.509
5 Houston Texans 2-5 60-50 0.546
T6 Pittsburgh Steelers 2-4 55-53 0.509
T6 Washington Redskins* 2-4 55-53 0.509
8 Atlanta Falcons 2-4 54-48 0.529
9 Oakland Raiders 2-4 60-50 0.546
10 Philadelphia Eagles 3-4 49-57 0.462

*The Redskins' selection belongs to the Rams after a trade prior to the 2012 NFL Draft.

Note: The chart already takes into consideration all 16 opponents on the schedule for every team, including ones that haven't yet been played.
