Paul Posluszny injury: Jaguars LB misses Thursday practice, unlikely to play vs. Cardinals

Posluszny is likely to miss his first game since joining the Jaguars in 2011.

Linebacker Paul Posluszny hasn't missed a game since joining the Jaguars during the 2011 offseason, but he looks to be on track for a game on the sideline, as he missed practice on Thursday and still hasn't been cleared to return to practice after suffering a concussion in Week 10.

The reigning AFC Defensive Player of the Week suffered a concussion late in a 29-27 win over the Tennessee Titans and is still sidelined from joining the team at practice. According to Ryan O'Halloran of the Florida Times-Union, eight Jaguars players have missed a Thursday practice in 2013 while in the concussion program and none have been available for the team on Sunday.

That means the Jaguars will likely have to rely on fifth-year veteran linebacker Russell Allen to fill in for Posluszny at the middle linebacker position. That would likely mean John Lotulelei, an undrafted rookie that was claimed by the Jaguars from the Seahawks in October, could be in line for a start at the strong-side linebacker position in the place of Allen.

Posluszny is fifth in the NFL in tackles with 88 and has accumulated one sack, one forced fumble and two interceptions in 2013.
