After being suspended indefinitely on Friday, Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Justin Blackmon will enter a rehab facility according to ESPN's Adam Schefter on Sunday NFL Countdown. Blackmon was suspended for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy, his third time in just two seasons in the NFL. It has not been reported what exactly happened, but given that Blackmon is entering a rehab facility it's likely he failed another drug test.
The Jaguars originally drafted Blackmon in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft, but his journey in the NFL has been a rocky one, picking up a DUI arrest before even signing his NFL contract. Over the 2013 offseason, Blackmon was suspended for four games for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy.
Just four games after returning from his suspension, Blackmon was suspended again indefinitely.
More importantly than being on the field and the money he's costing himself, Blackmon evidently needs to get his priorities straight and checking into a rehab facility might be the best thing for him going forward, both personally and professional.
