After a dominant first quarter by Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon gave the home team an early lead, three turnovers late in the first half set up the Jaguars to rally late in the second quarter and take a 20-14 lead to halftime.
Gordon, 22, tallied six receptions for 125 yards and a 21-yard touchdown grab in the first half, accounting for well over half of the 204 total yards gained by the Browns offense in the first half.
For the Jaguars, there was some offensive rhythm, including an impressive eight-play, 80-yard drive that finished with a 18-yard touchdown pass from Chad Henne to Clay Harbor. Running back Maurice Jones-Drew also found some room, accumulating 51 yards on 12 rushing attempts before lobbing an eight-yard touchdown pass to Marcedes Lewis.
However, it was interceptions by rookies Johnathan Cyprien and Dwayne Gratz, and a fumble recovery by Sen'Derrick Marks all inside the two-minute warning that led to 13 points after Josh Scobee knocked in field goals of 44 and 51 yards.
The Browns will receive the kickoff to begin the second half.
