Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Cecil Shorts III finished last season just 21 yards short of 1,000 receiving yards, his season cut short by a concussion on a questionable hit. With more receptions than last season so far, Shorts is once again close to being just the third player in franchise history to reach 1,000 receiving yards in a season and it's a goal he really wants to accomplish.

"I'd love to do that," Shorts told Ryan O'Halloran of The Florida Times-Union. "That's definitely a goal so we'll see what happens."

While overall Shorts has put together another solid season to follow up his breakout 2012, he's seen a lot of heat from fans because of drops and speaking out about being more involved in the offense. On the season according to Pro Football Focus Shorts has 10 drops, which is just one more than he had last season.

Receivers coach Jerry Sullivan says that's something Shorts just has to play through and deal with.

"It's kind of like a shortstop in baseball, you make a couple of errors and start talking about it all the time and that's all you think about," Sullivan told O'Halloran. "You've got to work through it."

"I'm trying to let it come to me," Shorts told O'Halloran.

If the Jaguars offense can pick up just a tad, at least passing the football, Shorts should be able to eclipse the 1,000 yard mark, as he's currently just 223 yards shy of the mark. To hit his goal, Shorts will need to average roughly 75 yards per game in the final three games.
