The Jaguars have brought back defensive tackle Kyle Love, who previously played for the team in the preseason before he was released in final cuts, to replace defensive lineman Brandon Deaderick, who suffered a season-ending elbow injury on Sunday and will be placed on injured reserve, according to Ryan O'Halloran of the Florida Times-Union.
Love, 27, played the first three seasons of his career with the New England Patriots, starting in 26 games with the team before he was released in May. The release drew controversy as it came shortly after Love was diagnosed with Type-2 diabetes, which drew harsh words from the defensive tackle for his former team.
He was claimed by the Jaguars shortly thereafter and spent the offseason with the team, playing in 61 defensive snaps during the preseason, but was one of the more surprising cuts on Sept. 1. Love went unclaimed on waivers and was out of the league until the Chiefs scooped him up in mid-November, activating him for one game. In his sole game with the Chiefs, he played in only three snaps against the San Diego Chargers and did not record a tackle.
Deaderick, another former Patriots defensive lineman, suffered a dislocated elbow against the Titans on Sunday. He played in 13 games for the Jaguars in 2013, making one start. He recorded one forced fumble, 0.5 sacks and nine tackles.
The Jaguars also added Drake Nevis and placed Roy Williams to IR.
Ankle sprains for cornerback Dwayne Gratz and offensive tackle Cameron Bradfield could keep both starters out of the season finale against the Colts as well, although Bradfield has a better chance of playing, according to Gus Bradley.
