Texans vs. Jaguars 2013: First half game thread

Join the BCC community to discuss the first half of a Thursday night game between the Texans and Jaguars at EverBank Field.

Andrew Weber-USA TODAY Sports

The Jacksonville Jaguars have the second-worst record in the NFL and are near the bottom of the league in every major statistical category, but with three wins in the last four games, things are quietly looking better for the franchise. The same cannot be said for the Houston Texans, who enter the Thursday Night Football matchup with 10 consecutive losses after beginning the year with Super Bowl aspirations.

While the Texans are third in the NFL in total defense and 10th in total offense, they are near the bottom of the league in both points scored and allowed. At the root of the problem, the Houston offense has had a propensity for turnovers, while the defense is the second worst in the NFL at causing them.

Still, the Texans are a team with plenty of talent, as defensive end J.J. Watt is still arguably the most dominant defensive player in the NFL. Without a win at EverBank Field all season, the Jaguars still have a tough task ahead of them if they hope to earn a fourth win in their last five games.

If they are unable to do so, the two teams would have matching 3-10 records and the Jaguars would be the holders of the tiebreaker to determine the first selection in the 2014 NFL Draft.
