NFL Mock Draft 2013: Barkevious Mingo to the Jaguars

Barkevious Mingo is becoming a popular choice for the Jaguars with their new LEO position.

The Jacksonville Jaguars will likely be looking for a pass rusher in the first round of the NFL Draft and as more people come to understand the type of defense the team will be running under Gus Bradley. In Mocking The Draft's latest NFL mock draft, Matthew Fairburn gives the Jaguars a player who could be a great pick as the Jaguars LEO with the second overall pick.

2. Jacksonville Jaguars: Barkevious Mingo, DE, LSU

The NFL Scouting Combine was full of LEO talk when Gus Bradley hit the podium on Saturday. Bradley said that Jason Babin fits the position, but Barkevious Mingo would add some youth at pass rusher, something the Jaguars desperately need. Mingo may have turned some people off when Sam Montgomery admitted the two have quite the betting history. Other candidates for this pick could include Sharrif Floyd, Jarvis Jones, Dion Jordan, Ezekial Ansah and (wait for it) Tank Carradine.

Mingo would seem to fit the LEO position, which often will ask the player to stand up and pass rush or at times drop into pass coverage in certain formations, which is similar to what Mingo did in college.

"He needs the ability to be a great pass rusher," Bradley told Ryan O'Halloran of The Florida Times-Union about the LEO position. "You're looking for a traditional right end but with great speed and get off [at the snap]. He can be a little bit lighter than most 3-4 defensive ends."
