2013 NFL Free Agency: Jaguars 'not in play' to retain Derek Cox, according to report

Cox has missed 14 games in the past two seasons due to injury.

Derek Cox's days as a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars appear to be over as his agent told Ryan O'Halloran of the Florida Times-Union on Wednesday, "The Jaguars are not in play to bring Derek back."

Cox was a third round selection in the 2009 NFL Draft and has been a starter during his four seasons with the team, but injuries have plagued him for much of the past three seasons. In the past two seasons, the talented cornerback missed a combined 14 games due to a variety of injury problems.

While the contract figures that Cox is looking for haven't been released or reported, it wouldn't be surprising that a team looking to rebuild is hesitant to pay very much to a player with a history of injuries. The risk makes more sense for a team looking to compete right away.
