Redskins sign Tyler Polumbus

New, comments

Brad Mills-US PRESSWIRE

The Washington Redskins have signed offensive lineman Tyler Polumbus, according to Polumbus' Twitter account. He has played all over the offensive line in his career and has a lot of experience in a zone blocking scheme, which he will continue to play in with Washington.

Polumbus, 27, was the starting right tackle for the Redskins in 2012 and for a few games in 2011, but struggled in the role, according to Pro Football Focus, finishing the 2012 season with a -21.7 grade. He did earn positive grades in six games, though, highlighting how inconsistent and up-and-down his season was.

Originally an undrafted free agent signed by the Denver Broncos in 2008, Polumbus played primarily special teams in his rookie year before cracking the starting lineup at right tackle in 2009. He then went to Seattle in 2010 where he made starts at left tackle, right tackle and left guard.
