The Jacksonville Jaguars spent time with North Carolina defensive lineman Sylvester Williams at the Tar Heels pro day and spent time with him on Monday evening, according to a report by Tony Pauline.
The 6'3", 313 pound Williams has impressed scouts and teams with his athleticism for his size and as a nose tackle is very quick off the snap. In the Jaguars defense going forward it's likely Williams can fit at the one-technique, three-technique, and even the five-technique in heavy run sets.
At the NFL combine Williams clocked a 5.03 40-yard dash, put up 27 reps on the bench press. At his pro day it was noted that Williams looked excellent in his position drills.
Williams isn't necessarily a pass rusher, but he can disrupt in the backfield and collapse the pocket.
Most expect Williams to go in the mid-to-late first round, with the possibility to falling into the second round.
