Jaguars aren't interested in Seahawks QB Matt Flynn, according to report

Despite a rumor earlier in the week that they were the favorite to swing a trade for Seattle Seahawks quarterback Matt Flynn, Mike Silver of Yahoo! Sports reports that the Jaguars "don't want him to be their quarterback."

This contradicts a report from CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora on Tuesday, who said that "several NFL sources have identified Jacksonville as the most likely destination" for Flynn in the event of a trade. It's certainly possible though, that the "several NFL sources" aren't Jaguars sources and are high-ranking decision-makers that are connecting the dots between the two franchises.

Owners of the second pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, the Jaguars will likely be the first team with the chance to address their quarterback position as the Kansas City Chiefs filled their need by trading for former-San Francisco 49ers quarterback Alex Smith. The consensus top quarterback is West Virginia's Geno Smith.

On Wednesday night, Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio suggested that it made the most sense for a team to wait until after the first day or two of the Draft before swinging a trade for Flynn:

Still, with the three teams supposedly interested in the one-game wonder being the Jaguars, Raiders, and Bills and with all three teams potentially eyeballing a quarterback with their top-10 draft picks, it makes no sense to make a run at Flynn until they know whether they'll be using that first-round pick on a potential franchise quarterback.

In two preseason starts with the Seahawks, Flynn completed 71.8 percent of his passes with one touchdown and one interception to finish with an 81.6 passer rating. Russell Wilson finished the preseason with 63.6 percent of his passes completed along with five touchdowns and one interception to record a 110.3 passer rating and earn the team's starting job for Week 1.
