NFL Mock Draft 2013: Barkevious Mingo back to the Jaguars

Who the Jacksonville Jaguars could pick at the second overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft will fluctuate as we get closer and closer to the NFL Draft, especially before the free agency period. Not only will free agency have a big impact on how the number two pick shakes out going forward, but the looming chance that the Jaguars will draft a quarterback with the second overall pick.

In Mocking the Draft's latest 2013 NFL Mock Draft however, the Jaguars pass over the chance to take a quarterback and go with a pass rusher who fits the LEO role in the new defense.

No. 2, Jacksonville Jaguars: Barkevious Mingo, DE, LSU

The Jaguars could still go a number of directions with this pick. With the Chiefs trading for Alex Smith, West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith should be on the board. New general manager David Caldwell has praised Blaine Gabbert, though, and the pass rush is a pressing issue. Barkevious Mingo fits Gus Bradley's "LEO" position to a tee and could make an instant impact on a defense that desperately needs playmakers.

This wouldn't be a surprise pick by the Jaguars at all, especially if the team decides to pass on a quarterback with the number two overall pick. There are quite a few pass rushers in this draft who fit that "tweener" role that the LEO position is and Mingo is a freak athlete who gets off the line quickly.
