Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Derek Cox appears as if he will hit the open market in 2013 NFL free agency, though the Jaguars are still talking with his agent. One team who appears interested in Cox is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to Tom Krasniqi of 620 WDAE.
Cox was up and down early in his NFL career but eventually settled in and become what looked like was a good up and coming young cornerback, but injuries seemed to constantly derail his seasons. The past two years Cox has missed 14 games and has been his biggest hurdle going forward.
Cox started 12 games in 2012 and I wouldn't expect the Jaguars to give him a big deal and compete for his services if he hits the open market, but it appears like someone like the Buccaneers could, as they are in dire need of cornerbacks. There is also a coaching connection with former Jaguars secondary coach Tony Oden.
