Justin Blackmon has been suspended for the first four games of the Jacksonville Jaguars 2013 season for violating the NFL's substance abuse program. Blackmon dealt with off the field issues soon after he was drafted, getting a DUI before the 2012 season even started.
After dealing with the DUI weeks after the draft, the Jaguars were able to add provisions to Blackmon's rookie contract to protect themselves in the future if Blackmon had another run in with the law and it appears that Blackmon could have cost himself a good chunk of guaranteed money.
Blackmon's suspension will cost him $289,754 of his $1.231 million base salary in 2013 and could potentially void nearly $11 million in guaranteed money from his 2013 through 2015 contract years.
