Jaguars issue statement on Maurice Jones-Drew battery charge

Cary Emondson-US PRESSWIRE

The Jacksonville Jaguars have issued a team statement regarding the incident involving running back Maurice Jones-Drew over the weekend where Jones-Drew was charged with misdemeanor battery after allegedly knocking out a security guard.

via Vic Micolucci of WJXT on Twitter:

"We are aware of the situation regarding Maurice Jones-Drew and are in the process of gathering more information. Due to this being a legal matter, we'll have no further comment at this time."

As of now, Jones-Drew has not been arrested for the incident but simply charged with misdemeanor battery. We will have more information on the story as it evolves going forward, but it's doubtful that there will be any punishment from the NFL for the incident, as Jones-Drew has been a "good citizen" during his NFL career thus far.
