Fulham friendlies at EverBank could showcase Jacksonville

Jacksonville Jaguars

There won't be a ton of Fulham coverage on Big Cat Country, just a few notes here and there. Just wanted to get that out of the way before people started complaining, but I will post about them from time-to-time when it's relevant to the Jaguars, such as when Shad Khan makes mention that Fulham friendlies in Jacksonville is definitely something in the plans going forward.

It's possible that Fulham could play a friendly in EverBank Field as early as next summer, to introduce the new proposed scoreboards to the world.

"Would be phenomenal. To see the city in the background, the huge scoreboards, the North End renovation," Khan told reporters at a press conference on Friday. "It would show Jacksonville at its finest. If you look at the eyeballs on a typical Fulham game - there will be 300-400 million people watching. It really gives us a huge amount of upside."

As we've discussed in the past, Khan has a greater vision for the Jaguars and the city of Jacksonville than just what most people pull from the surface.

"We'll share our strengths and best practices when appropriate. In short, it's business as usual. The fans each have great reason to be optimistic and collectively, we're going to have a lot of fun," Jaguars president Mark Lamping said on Friday. "Shad's full-time commitment to Fulham FC will raise our profile in London and will benefit the Jaguars and Jacksonville in ways we couldn't have imagined as recently as a few months ago."

For those unfamiliar, Jacksonville is seemingly becoming a bit of a soccer hotbed, setting attendance records for U.S. Men's and Women's National team friendlies and showing good attendance in some other soccer events, as well as potentially landing a North American Soccer League (NASL) franchise in the coming weeks.
